Owner Kevin Vermillion said keeping koi combines the esthetics of gardening with the pleasure of pet care. “Koi are fascinating fish that add true beauty to a water feature,” Vermilion says. In addition to selling fish, Mud Pond Koi provides growing out services in its four large mud ponds. “Koi grow faster and their colors become much richer when they grow in the clay of a mud pond,” Vermillion says. “The growing out service is ideal for people who want bigger fish. Faster.” Mud Pond Koi also offers pond consulting services and is open seasonally, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
